Today we came home from an overnight at a lovely nearby holiday destination. We stayed in a cottage – instead of the main hotel – so that Finnegan the Labradoodle could come with us. We soaked in the pools and ate entirely too much for dinner last night… all in celebration of my birthday.
When we arrived home around noon we had that lovely-to-be-home feeling combined with that I’ve-been-swimming-sleepy feeling. We were relaxed!! AWESOME!
We had nothing on our agenda – so when H suggested we have a Star Trek marathon, it suited Craig and I perfectly. We also all agreed that waffles would make the perfect brunch. (They pair particularly well with TOS episode #64!!)
H got right to work…
Apparently, there is more involved in a Star Trek marathon than simply watching the DVDs: action figures, phasers, and a number of costume changes were required.
Later in the afternoon, H was decorating the chocolate cake.
I was hailed from the kitchen: “Mom… how old are you???”
Me: “783…”
H: “No. Mom… really???”
Me: “Why don’t you guess…”
H: “… 27???”
I just let that one hang there!! What a great kid!!
It was a wonderful lazy afternoon – with cards and flowers… followed by a lovely dinner and more time spent together. (Make sure to note the pun on H’s card – he gets that from me!! Awesome!)
If you look closely… you will see Finnegan the Labradoodle lolling in one of his favourite spots.
I am not done trying to change the world… or at least my little part of it.
.. but I am certainly grateful for my wonderful family! This year is off to a spectacular start!!
