It is Mother’s Day and I am thinking of myself and other moms who have had to deal with the unexpected… and the mundane… the miracles of little things, and moments of sheer joy…. the fear of loss, and the pain of actual loss… the tiredness that comes from a day of hard play, and the long-drained tiredness that comes with endless advocacy, or riding out and calming a melt-down.
We are somehow fueled by the love that we have for our children, and it is this love that keeps us going when the seas can be a little rougher than anticipated, or when we encounter a perfect storm of impossibility… (or impassibility?)
I wish the Mothers of children with challenges, whatever those may be, a moment of appreciation to yourself- from yourself, for the difference you are making in the life of your child.
And too, here is another message from my wise old refrigerator…
